Capacity Building
Many farmers experience poor yields because of poor farming practices or the use of inappropriate farming methods.
TRACTOR organizes workshops where training and advisory services are provided to farmers. TRACTOR invites Extension officers, Agriculture engineers, Veterinarians, crop and soil researchers, management and marketing resource persons to interact with rural farmers.
A participatory platform is also created for farmers to share information and experiences on best practices.
Our capacity building programmes focus on ICT in farming, sustainable agriculture mechanisation, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity and organic farming, management and marketing for smallholder farmers.
ICT Programme
This capacity building programme focus on Information communication and other technologies in farming.

This programme is organised in partnership with B-BOVID (an agriculture and agro-processing company) which has an innovative ICT in Agriculture Centre. The programme introduces farmers to information communication technologies in farming that can help improve their productivity. Farmers and trainees are given technical support to encourage the use of simple technologies to improve productivity. The basics are the use of mobile phones to assess market prices, forecast the weather, make payments for seeds, and knowledge transfer, etc.

The programme integrates smallholder rural farmers into global markets, helps farmers tap into global knowledge and research, e-commence, and to empower the poor, smallholder and rural farmers  to participate and contribute to discussions on agriculture development.

Farm Clinic Programme (Soil, seeds, crops and science in Agriculture Programme)
The farm clinic offers a one-time shop where farmers get all their farm worries attended to. Workshops are held where farmers are educated on practices that enrich soil quality, improve seed yield, pest and disease control. The platform is also created for them to bring other challenges that may be affecting them on their farms to be addressed.

 Management and Marketing Programme
Poor management is one of many challenges hindering the development of rural agriculture leaving many farmers with losses and debts.
TRACTOR provides training to rural farmers on how to manage their farms, finances, and how to market their produce, in order to run profitable and sustainable business.

Mechanisation Programme
In addition to training, we assist farmers in choosing appropriate forms of mechanisation as the choice of any form of mechanization depends on the local climatic, agricultural, environmental, infrastructural, social and economic conditions prevailing .

Biodiversity and Organic Farming
Farmers are trained on the environmental, health, economic, and many other benefits of biodiversity and organic farming. They are also supported to practice biodiversity and organic farming.
